SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE FUNDRAISER FOR THE 1895

Board member Brooke Graham brings together local musicians.

ROCKDALE, TX, MAY 24, 2023 – As part of their 2023 fundraising efforts, Vision Historic Preservation Foundation (Vision Rockdale) will present a Songwriters Showcase at the Kay Theater on Saturday, July 1st.  The Songwriters Showcase will feature local musician Brooke Graham who serves on Vision Rockdale’s board of directors and just released a new single “Easy Does It”.  “I wanted to do something to not only contribute to the restoration of The 1895, but also highlight the wonderful talent we have in the area,” stated Graham who was elected as a volunteer board member in February 2022.  Graham reached out to musician friends Charlie Bishop, Stacie Crocker, Billy Gage, Eric Hamilton, and Charlie Weyler to participate in an engaging evening of storytelling and performances in a song swap format.  “We are all excited to be a part of this fundraiser as we understand the opportunities for the area’s music scene The 1895 will create as an Arts & Entertainment Center,” said Graham.

All six musicians are offering their performances at no charge to the non-profit. “We are thankful to these musicians for sharing their talent and no expense to the Foundation,” stated Executive Director Curah Beard. “It is the generosity of individuals, businesses, and grant makers that are helping to make this restoration project a reality.” Walmart Store 280 provided Vision Historic Preservation Foundation with a Community Grant in support of this event. Walmart is joined by Oncor, Riot Platforms, Alpha One Chevrolet, Bland Construction and Rockdale Rotary Club as Patrons of the Arts supporting the Foundation’s event and restoration project.

Phase One of The 1895 restoration has begun, which will restore the entire front façade of the building which is estimated to be completed by December 2023.  100% of the proceeds of this event will directly benefit the restoration of The 1895.  Advance ticket purchases are encouraged as seating is limited and it will help the Foundation in planning for their beer & wine order. “We’re going to offer a beer & wine cash bar during the event, but per TABC rules we must order product directly from the distributor and it is not returnable,” explained Beard.  “We appreciate the public showing their support by sharing the Facebook event with friends and purchasing advance tickets so we can plan seating arrangements and product orders accordingly.”

Advance tickets are $20 and will be $25 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased at www.VisionRockdale.org. During check-out, an additional tax-deductible donation to the non-profit may also be made.
